Dog Town on National Geographic

Miss Maddie says it's time to set our DVR!

Friday night 7:00 pm , 9/5, Dog Town on NG will continue their series. This show is about Best friends Animal Society.

The first show of the new season will be on - well take a guess....the VICKTORY DOGS! It's called Saving Michael Vick Dogs. As it says on their website; In April 2007, the nation was shocked when dozens of traumatized pit bulls were discovered on Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vicks property. Follow the journey of four of the most challenging Vick dogs as DogTown helps rehabilitate them.

A woman from NG joined PBF asking for photos of our dogs - exercising. Well, there was a huge debate about sharing photos of dogs using spring poles, flirt poles, treadmills, carpet mills, etc and if the photos will be displayed in a negative light. Most people see these items and assume that these devises are "connected ONLY with dog fight training". We DID NOT want NG to use our photos as a prelude to that discussion. A lot of responsible PB owners use these as exercise tools. So we will see how they portray that side of the coin. Hopefully, in a healthy light.

Our holistic vet recently took a trip to BF sanctuary to help work with horses. When I was at her office, we got on the subject of Pit Bulls. She said she had a chance to meet and view the Vick dogs. She was moved by what she saw. There are a few that could benefit from some holistic medicine due to some temperament issues (mostly fear). But it seems the Vet down at BF isn't too hip on using those methods. I sure wish he would.

The Vicktory dogs are all over the media - the failure of one - the mismanagement of one - well it could ruin the chances of additional dog fight bust dogs being saved.

And I think that is one of the most important lessons from this whole Vick situation. Dog fight bust dogs deserve just as much chance as others - that most are not HA or dangerous. They deserve the chance to take the temperament test, just like any other breed. They should not be convicted or sentance to death without a chance. They deserve to find a home. PB are forgiving, loving creatures. With all these dogs have been thru, they do not, have not, turned into horrible HA creatures. That says a lot about the temperaments of the American Pit Bull Terrier.

God love the Pitties!
